Mental Health First Aid 

This internationally recognised course, is delivered through Mental Health First Aid England. It teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help to people in crisis. 

Throughout the course you will gain: 

  • A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing 

  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues 

  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress 

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening 

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support 

The advised course cost is £350, but for Loughborough students we provide the course and qualification for only £36! You must be available to attend the full course (all times and days) to sign up.

Emergency First aid

This accredited course, ran by The International Certification and Training Academy covers primary care and the recovery position, resuscitation, defibrillation, bleeding control, shock, seizures as well as minor first aid protocol.  

To gain the qualification you will need to complete online training (approx. 2 hours in length) and attend the workshop in person. The online training can be completed in your own time, but will need to be submitted 24 hours before the course.  This is an interactive course to practice the first aider role, as a result some physical contact (for example during practicing bandaging) will be part of the workshop.

Wellbeing for Leaders 

Are or do you want to be a leader? This course will cover an overview of wellbeing including supporting others' wellbeing whilst considering your own wellbeing and wellbeing action plan.

A Proactive Approach to Dealing with Setbacks

Online Training – Time Management 
 
Do you ever wish you had more hours in the day? While we can’t manufacture time, we can take control over how we spend it. In this course, you’ll first learn what effective time management is—and how it helps you juggle competing responsibilities and interests. 
 
It hopefully goes without saying that your studies and your wellbeing should always come first, however, with this course you’ll learn tips and tricks on how to track, analyze, prioritise, and schedule your time so that you can maximize each day.  
 
This course is free and can be completed at a time that suits you.

Pomodoro technique 

Drowning under workload? Lack focus to finish your reading? Getting bored too fast? 

The Pomodoro Technique is a gamified time management tool that involves splitting work tasks into 25-minute intervals with short breaks scheduled in between each interval. 

How  

  1. Select your task. 

  1. Set a 25-minute timer. 

  1. Work on the task until the timer goes off. 

  1. Take a 5-minute break. 

  1. Repeat this format. 

  1. Take a longer 15- to 30-minute break every four pomodoro intervals.
